Actually, You can solve it by checking the problem: "5 would be difficult to divide among the 3 people. So he pockets 2.00$ and gives each one 1$." 3 x 1 = 3 + 2 = 5 = D

actually transaction was never of 30$.. each gave 9. so thats 27$ in total. room cost was 25. so 27-25=2$. this remaining 2$ were taken by bellman.

They paid $27, this number includes the $2 the bellman has, they have the $3 to make it the $30... simple really.

They didn't pay that $3 to the hotel, they got that money BACK! So in reality they only paid 25 + the 2 gave they to the bell guy...
